Scope of Project

The electrical installation comprised supply and installation of the following:-

• Sub-mains cables serving distribution boards and sub-switchboards
• Sub-main cabling including termination to mechanical services panels
• Distribution boards and sub-switchboards
• Earthing system
• Isolating switches
• Luminaires complete with lamps, control gear and associated wiring
• State of the art ‘Dyna-Lite’ Lighting control system
• Computerised ‘Bardic’ Emergency and Exit Lighting system
• General purpose power outlets and wiring
• Cabling for voice and data block facility
• Telephone backbone cabling and field wiring
• Monitored fire alarm system
• Nurse call system
• ‘B&H’ Audio visual cabling and World wide video conferencing system
• MATV System
• Security System
• CCTV System
• Alarm/Access control system
• Electric door locking system
• Body protect areas

Project Challenges

• Maintenance of existing services whilst renovations were underway
• Co-ordination of specialist contractors

• Wiring between floors
• Installation of Data, Phone, Power and Lighting service panels next to the ward beds
• Specialist requirements in sensitive “Body Protect” Areas
• Specialised cables and terminations for the installation of the ‘World Wide Video Conferencing’ system
• Ongoing design changes resulted in many variations – many of which could not be done until other trades had completed their variations! 

This project was the proud winner of a NECA Award of Excellence in 2008.
